In the fourth quarter of 2010, smartphone manufacturers shipped 100.9 million devices. PC manufacturers shipped 92.1 million units worldwide. To put it simply, smartphones outsold PCs for the first time ever. And it will not be the last.   

Mobile is about much more than just the iPhone or Android in your pocket. It’s also about the emergence of tablets. In 2010, Apple’s iPad redefined the way we think about tablet computing. Over 3 million iPads were sold in the first 80 days of their availability. 

Mobile devices are changing the way we read, watch videos, shop and consume media. As the number of smartphone and tablet users grows, one area of continued interest is mobile apps, what they do and which brands should create them.
