Wexner Center for the Arts Unveils New Wexarts.org

Resource Interactive Designs New Web Site to Coincide with Gallery Reopening

Columbus, OH November 17, 2005 The Wexner Center for the Arts launched the new Resource Interactive-designed web site as part of its Wex Wide Open festivities, celebrating the long-awaited reopening of the venue after an extensive three-year renovation. Further promoting the center's commitment to the best of contemporary visual, performing, and film arts the world over, the new web site brings Wexner Center exhibitions and events to the forefront, highlighting its global programming while making the experience more accessible to visitors.

"Thanks to the fabulous team at Resource Interactive, our web site has become a truly vital and attractive portal for the center," notes Wexner Center Director Sherri Geldin. Resource Interactive reconceived and redesigned the web site with enhanced navigation and striking visuals, and rebuilt the site's backend, enabling the center to easily update site content, images, and calendar information. Visitors view the full slate of current Wexner events on the home page through the motion of Flash technology, a rich media application, making the entire user experience more compelling.

Dennis Bajec, Executive Director of Creative Services for Resource Interactive, believes the new site fully reflects the Wexner Center's commitment to engage its visitors and encourage personal involvement. "Placing the center's programming in the foreground is the crux of the new site design," Bajec said. "Illuminating the full spectrum of events and making information easily accessible inspires users to delve deeper, explore, and become energized by the site.

Among the new features:

  • Compelling photography highlighting current exhibitions and events
  • An engaging interactive homepage that encourages users to explore Wexner Center programming
  • A smarter, faster navigation system with drop-down menus
  • An improved calendar tool that allows users to sort programs by day, week, month, or by category
  • A news ticker on the home page with an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed
  • A Get Involved section for membership and volunteering opportunities, e-mail newsletters, and Wexner Center listservs
  • A new Learn section with educational programming information for families, teens, adults, teachers, and school groups
  • A Press Room link on the home page, with current and archived press releases, and media contacts

Resource Interactive's dramatic site redesign reflects and supports the Wexner Center's overall efforts to be more accessible and user-friendly for its visitors, whether online or in person. Director Sherri Geldin agrees: "Like the institution it represents, www.wexarts.org is now a much more dynamic place to visitfor the local community, as well as diverse audiences who follow the Wexner Center from afar."
