Limelight - August 2006 - Dear Clients and Friends of Resource Interactive,
Life online—expanding, changing and breaking new ground. That solid web technology standby, HTML, is a fabulous backbone and does a great job of presenting information in a linear manner. Changing the face of the web now are rich internet applications (RIA)—or the Flash, Flex, Ajax, highly interactive application technologies—that are upping the ante and bringing home functionality that can drive real-world actionable results. The nature of RIA is transparent to the user—who can build, talk, view and shop ever so much more effectively without even reloading a page. RIA can improve the online experience in tangible, measurable ways from increasing time spent on a site to increasing the size of online orders.

iCitizen: the power of one. Billion. Who is the icitizen? What do they want? Or even demand? This new breed of consumer is playing an unexpected role in the value creation of goods and services. Enabled by the internet, the icitizen has become a producer of brands—artistic, social, political, intellectual and economic. To garner insight, we've pulled together an astonishing list of speakers for an invitation-only event exclusively available to Resource clients who want to know more about the icitizenry and its impact on their business. «More»

Navigate your life

While WE never understood the reluctance to ask directions, we never have to ask again. Seek and ye shall find—a Chinese restaurant on the way to mom's or a way around a traffic jam. TeleAtlas, the world's largest mapping source, wants everyone to get there using GPS technology. With education in mind, Resource Interactive conceived and developed this rich-media site that puts searching for home in perspective for everyone from technology gurus to the directionally challenged. Test-drive GPS for yourself with support from our friends at Crutchfield. www.crutchfield.com/navdemo/
BYTESIZE: 'As TV sales dip to an historic low and LCD monitors, laptops and video iPods continue to sell briskly, you realize that passive viewing is in decline. It is our job to deliver on this consumer mandate for richer interactive experiences.' - Dennis Bajec, Executive Director, Creative Services

Moving with you and ahead of everything else

The Trinity KFS from RBK—designed with a totally new technology—is a shoe with floating expansion joints that move with you as you run. The most innovative shoe to hit the streets in eons was recently named Runner's World Editor's Choice. See this winner for yourself at RBKrunning.com before you dash into a store near you to experience it for yourself. Our team combined high-definition video of the shoe in running motion with actual hospital-generated foot x-rays to illustrate impact, cushioning and well, the next generation of shoes.

RIA and reaching for more
Kris Schultz    Kris Schultz, a Resource lead developer, keeps a cool head and keen eye on rich internet applications and how they can be put to use for our clients. He leads our internal RIA practice group (just one way we keep the technology team challenged to think in new and innovative ways and to promote best practices across the technology domain). In addition, Kris is the president of the local Adobe users group—designers and developers who meet monthly to discuss the latest Adobe products like Flash and Flex. One of Kris's articles is live on the Adobe Developer Center; another will be published soon. »Check it out.
