Limelight - July 2006 - Dear Clients and Friends of Resource Interactive,
Summer's starry nights are great for igniting one's sense of the infinite, but this recent milestone really stokes our imagination: there are now over a billion internet users worldwide! For every one of those users, there are that many more usage scenarios—on screens big and small, in-home and out-of-home, portable and plugged in, old school and emerging. Small wonder everyone's talking multi-platform planning!

We'll be helping launch brands into the vast galaxy of digital touchpoints all summer long—so lie back with us and enjoy the view!

Organizational Oscar
The votes are in from the employees of tens of thousands of Ohio companies, and Resource Interactive takes home the statuette! We are Best Employer in Ohio in the Small/Medium Business category! The competition, organized by the Ohio Chamber of Commerce and Society of Human Resource Management—Ohio State Council, evaluated everything from company policies, practices, and demographics to a 64-question employee survey. Check out the story.

Dream Weaver
While more deep, restorative sleep may seem to be the stuff of fairy tales these days, The Sleep Number Bed by Select Comfort™ allows consumers to adjust their comfort to a dream setting, their Sleep Number®, with innovative air-chamber technology. We've helped Select Comfort consumers identify the benefits of high-quality sleep through development of the company's new web site, using digital brand expression, usability research, enhanced site architecture, design, and content editing. The site also drives people to one of the company's 400+ retail stores, encourages online ordering and guides them with three sophisticated Flash modules for Home, Store Experience, and PressureMapsm Technology. www.selectcomfort.com
BYTESIZE: 'Consumers are increasingly thinking of shopping on the web as a shortcut to 'my neighborhood store' - finding out what's new, what's on sale, and what's available for curbside pick up.' - Laura Evans, Executive Studio Director

Nightstand - The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business Is Selling Less of More by Chris Anderson - The long-awaited blog-turned-book about how the internet has removed physical constraints from commerce (e.g., shelf space for retailers), increased the visibility of off-the-beaten-path products and services, and thereby prompted the mighty rise of minority tastes.
All Tressed Up

Anticipating the July debut of the new Herbal Essences product line, our teaser web site offers consumers a fanciful Flash-powered encounter with the new packaging, new scents, and new collections. We helped Herbal Essences braid together a TV-print-web campaign that mobilizes the brand's essence and luscious copy, and even seeded the product on eBay, amidst the vintage bottles of original Herbal magic. http://www.herbalessences.com/us/

Roll Tape
Banner ads aren't just for interrupting anymore. The best of them replicate the rich interactivity of web sites and, consequently, don't always have the brand's web site as the ultimate user destination. Our banner work for Kohler made it into rich media solution provider PointRoll's April Newsletter Creative Showcase, and our work for Head & Shoulders won PointRoll's highest (Beanie) award. For some engaging banner action (and to paraphrase an old TV spot), "Roll that beautiful Beanie footage!"

Buying & Streaming
Because we're researching, preaching and practicing brand integration—yes, even outright duplication—across channels or platforms, we joined the press conversation about the "upfronts," TV's annual mating ritual between programmers and advertisers. In a conversation with Dow Jones's MarketWatch, our Executive Director of Strategy, Edd Johns, comments on online advertising's inroads into the upfronts.
